Monday 14th April saw over 80 residents gather in the Victoria Hall for a community engagement evening, followed by the Annual Town Meeting of Electors.
Those who came along were able to meet their Neighbourhood Policing Team, speak to their Unitary and Town Councillors and meet representatives of the newly-opened Banking Hub. People were asked for their feedback on the Council’s Action Plan ahead of its refresh, obtaining new ideas to guide the town to the local elections in 2027 and beyond. Also in attendance were the Crewkerne Youth Council and Neighbourhood Plan team who, alongside Crewkerne Timebank, were able to update visitors on progress with their various projects.
Thanks were expressed to Crewkerne Community Kitchen, whose Chop and Chat group cooked up a storm in the kitchen, serving nibbles based on a theme of preventing bread waste.
During the Annual Town Meeting the Mayor of Crewkerne, Alice Samuel, gave a round up of the past year. Her presentation is uploaded below for anyone wanting to view it.
Awards were made to the successful applicants for the community grants programmes and the following awards were made to hard working members of our community:
- Rev. Stephen Gray- Honoured Citizen 2025
- Stuart Prince – Honoured Citizen 2025
- Sylvia Murphy – Mayor’s Commendation Award 2025
- Lara Deakin – Young Crewkernian Award 2025
Thank you to all those who came and contributed to an enjoyable celebration of our community – see you all next year!
